A UK media startup entering a saturated polling market dominated by established players. Core product (poll-over-streaming-news) had clear IP but an unclear path to scale. No defensible position against better-funded incumbents. Needed a credible, investor-ready go-to-market strategy for UK entry.
The value wasn't in the news delivery, it was in the polling mechanism. Ad-supported platforms were already paying for engagement; polls could be the currency. A pivot from product company to platform partner could unlock a fundamentally different market.
Conducted comprehensive qualitative research: stakeholder interviews across media, publishing and ad-tech sectors. Analysed industry data to estimate UK addressable market size and revenue potential. Identified the strategic pivot: from news delivery to monetisation mechanism via partnership with established platforms. Proposed model: polls offered in exchange for ad-supported services - tapping unmet demand for engaged, verified opinion data. Quantified the opportunity through data modelling of strategic partnership scenarios.
Identified a significant untapped market opportunity invisible within the original business model. Proposed pivot projected to increase exit valuation by an estimated 10x through data analysis. Clear go-to-market roadmap with identified partnership targets and revenue pathways. Strategy positioned the business for acquisition as a data and engagement platform, not a news product.
